The University of Bath men’s 1st XV put on an epic show but just missed out loosing 38-35 to Exeter
On Wednesday 15 October, the Bath Recreation Ground came alive for the Anniversary Game, where the University of Bath Men’s 1st XV faced off against the University of Exeter in front of a record-breaking crowd.
Over 8,000 people were in attendance including students, staff, local residents, and Exeter supporters, making it the biggest turnout in the event’s history. The atmosphere was electric as Bath trailed in the first half but mounted an impressive comeback to lead 35–25 with just 10 minutes remaining. Despite their efforts, Exeter edged ahead in the final moments, sealing a dramatic 38–35 victory.
The evening was packed with entertainment. The Bath Jets brought high energy to the crowd and gave the team a spectacular entrance onto the pitch. Fan-favourite Duck Norris was out in full force, posing for photos, cheering pitchside, and joining SU Sport Officer Angus and the Sport Exec in launching prizes into the crowd during half-time.
A huge thank you goes out to all the staff, Student Media, and the Sport Exec who helped make the night such a success. It was truly an evening to remember.
SU Sport Officer Angus said "A huge well done to the Rugby team, it may not have been the result we wanted but you put on an outstanding performance and should be proud, likewise to all the spectators who came down, thankyou for making it such a special night and being such a repspectful crowd. Cannot wait for next year!"
