Summer Volunteering

Spending time volunteering during your summer break, whether once or regularly, bring so many benefits. If you're heading home for the summer check out local volunteering opportunities by looking up charities and organisations you're interested in to see if they're running anything.

Benefits of volunteering

CV BOOSTING
Volunteering gives you unique experiences and a chance to pick up softer skills, practical skills and extra knowledge that you can highlight to potential employers. Organisations love to hear what passions you pursue and what challenges you've faced that are different to those found at a placement year or internship.

WELLBEING
Volunteering is good for you. Scientific studies have shown that helping others can contribute to our own happiness by experiencing more positive emotions and boosting our self-confidence. It can reduce stress and help us feel calmer too. Studies show that when we do kind things it can literally gives our brain a happiness boost.  BBC Radio 4 - Just One Thing - with Michael Mosley, Volunteer
