We run sessions for everyone whether you are a skier or boarder, beginner, racer or freestyler, or just a big après fan. We have a variety of sessions, with regular Wednesday training on the dryslope at Gloucester, snowdome sessions at Milton Keynes, Freestyle gymnastics sessions at Baskervilles gym and of course a couple of trips to the mountains!

Gloucester – Wednesdays 2:30-4:30

Gloucester dry ski slope is our home away from home. It may not be the real thing but there's still tons of fun to be had on Dendex! Gloucester is one of the best dryslopes in the country and boasts 2 slopes, one of which is the longest in England. For most of our sessions we arrange to have a dual slalom on one slope, and a park set-up on the other, with a kicker followed by a box rail, quarter pipe and an airbag! We share the slope with a couple of other nearby Unis so we can take over the whole slope.

If you fancy a casual ski to focus or improve your technique, get more comfortable on a pair of skis or learn some freestyle moves then our Gloucester sessions are perfect for you! It's at a bargain price of £10 per session which includes transport, slope time and equipment rental**! We leave campus at 1pm, though if you have a 12:15 lecture we'll wait for you til 13:15. We'll be at Gloucester from 2:30-4:30 and with time for a cheeky pint and some chips, to refuel before our evening socials at Rev's before going to SCORE on Campus.

**Equipment means skis/board, boots and poles. Helmet hire is an extra £2. In addition, long sleeves, long trousers and gloves are mandatory. This is because falling onto dendix with bare skin is painful and really not recommended.

This year on Wednesday 16th October we will be collaborating with Exeter and Bristol Unis to host mini competitions and have an Apres event after at the legendary Mt Gloucester. See Facebook for more info!

This year, for the first time, we are introducing beginners snowboarding lessons as well as our previously successful ski lessons. Our aim is to get you confident enough to ski or board on our ski trip at the end of January. You will need to sign up to our beginner’s package which is a series of four 2-hour lessons. These will happen on the baby slope at Gloucester alongside our usual training session. No prior experience is necessary but numbers will be limited so sign up quickly to avoid disappointment.

Put simply, freestyle is the cool stuff. The ‘sevens’, the ‘nines’, ‘boned stalefishes' and 'holy crails'. You might think that you’d need to be an amazing skier or boarder to give this a go, but that’s not the case; you just need to strap on a board or some skis, grab a kicker and have the balls to try it. You never know, you may be the next Simon Dumont or Bobby Brown, and if you are we want you on our team!

We have a large group of regular freestylers with boarders and skiers, including our legendary freestyle captain Fergus. We'd love to help out anyone looking to get into freestyle or to learn a new big trick.

If you feel like giving freestyle a go but don’t fancy breaking anything important, then a good start point would be to try the airbag found at the bottom of the slope. There's a large jump with an even larger ‘airbag’ to cushion the landing. It is about as painless as freestyle gets! The jump at gloucester is big enough for 720s, flips and corks and you can get a double out of the airbag if you want it. There's also a couple rails, box and jib features that get changed around every time we go if you're into jibbing.

Each training session we have a dual slalom course set up, open to all abilities. If you’ve never seen a ski course before, a slalom is just a series of plastic poles which you turn left and right around. The ‘dual’ part just means there are two courses next to each other so you can race, if you wish to. This is a fantastic opportunity to give racing a try for the first time or hone in on your technique in preparation for our weeks out on the snow. Regularly we have coaches on hand alongside our more experienced racers and Captains to provide hints and tips that'll get you from 4th to 1st team standard in no time! For those of you with a more competitive nature, we frequently set up electronic timing on the slalom courses to allow you to race against the clock and prepare for our competitions.

At the top of the slope our Race Captain Elle will be on hand to answer any questions you have about the Kings race series or anything else you can think of. But we're a friendly bunch, so if you've got any questions when you're there, just ask anyone around you.

Snowdome Trips

If you fancy a try on the real stuff we’ve got that covered too! It might not be the Alps but in England what’s better than skiing/boarding in a giant fridge!

A few times a year we run sessions at one of the indoor slopes nearest to us. These are great for all abilities whether you want to get a bit of practice on the real stuff before ISB trip, trick off some different features with a bit softer landing, or just plain love snow. We offer great deals with transport, slope time and equipment hire included. What better way to spend an afternoon? If you’ve never been on snow before this is the perfect place to start and we’ll even arrange some lessons for you.

This year our first Snowdome trip will be on Wednesday 23rd of October. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest details.

Freestyle Gymnastics sessions

We now run occasional freestyle gymnastic sessions at the local Baskerville’s gym in Oldfield park, Bath, on Tuesday evenings. There’ll be plenty of equipment, trampolines, mats, spring boards and a pit for you to use. It’s a great way to try a trick before hitting the airbag down at Gloucester. Come along, have a laugh, and get a bit more confident with what you’re doing in the air. Not only will you be able to ask your fellow snowsporters if you look steezy enough, but we will have a coach on hand to give you hints and tips about how best to improve your flips and spins. As with all other training you’ll get our usual great prices!
