What is the Sustainability Badge?

The Sustainability Badge is designed to help SU Groups embed sustainability into everything they do! Whether you’re running events, organising activities, leading campaigns, raising awareness, volunteering, or developing members’ skills, you can showcase your impact through the Badge! Any SU Group can take part!

Groups submit evidence of their work throughout the year, and the SU assesses the submission to award each group a Sustainability Rating of up to 5 Stars.

What’s in it for you?

By taking part, your group will:

  • Receive a digital Sustainability Badge to use on your social media/website;
  • Be featured on our sustainability webpages/in our Sustainability Roundup
  • Use your work as evidence for wider awards such as the SU Awards and the University’s Sustainability Awards
  • Show future employers your commitment to sustainability - a core competency that future workplaces are looking for!

How Does It Work?

You can submit evidence for work across eight categories: Food, Skills, Campaigns, Raising Awareness, Reducing Waste, Clothing and Equipment, Volunteering and ‘Self‑defined’. Each category is scored from 1-3. The more you do, the higher your final rating!

How Do We Join?

You can sign your group up for the Sustainability Badge at any time before the deadline to receive your submission form. Then, start collecting evidence, such as posters, photos and social media posts from your activities. Remember, these can be from any activity you’ve run this year!
