It's worth noting that the 'trials' and selection are continuous processes. We use the trials to gauge potential and interested players, but they are by no means the be-all and end-all of selection!

The teams are only made up of 4 players, hence, if a player is injured or unable to play, subs or reserves can be called up in order to field a team.

What We Do

Table Tennis is the most popular indoor sport in the world, pushing 900 million fans globally! With top players able to impart up to 9000 rpm on the ball, it's easy to get alienated by this other side of the sport.

But we all have to start somewhere, so why not start now? There is a vast array of research behind the brain benefits of playing TT, and most sports for that matter! Our sessions are suitable for players of all ability, whether you're nationally ranked and compete in tournaments across the UK circuit, or are simply looking to de-stress with a knockabout.

We are aiming to provide a safe environment to play. We will be implementing social distancing and hygiene measures. Furthermore, we will be providing a virtual offer throughout the year! These include online fitness and training sessions and online tournaments with prizes!

Three of our four weekly sessions are open to all members, the perfect opportunity to get involved in university sport, meet some new people or just to take a break from the university workload.

Every Saturday Session is now a FitPong session. Besides receiving coaching from our top players, we combined this session with circuit-style workouts to improve conditioning and cardiovascular health. FitPong is aimed at beginners but players of any level are welcome to join.

There are also opportunities to play in the BUCS league where we have three teams: two men’s and one women’s. A weekly squad session is run by a professional coach. Top players will represent the university at the annual BUCS tournaments.

But a club isn't complete without socials! We hold frequent socials throughout the year, including themed Pub Crawls and Club nights as well as Snowball and a Christmas meal. Our WELCOME SOCIAL will take place in the first week of term. More details will follow soon on our Facebook page.

Reasons to Join Us

If you would like to join the club, you are welcome to come along to up to 2 of the sessions for FREE! We ask that you contribute £20 towards the membership fee to continue attending our sessions for the rest of the year.
