What is BOSS
We're a society for anyone interested in open source, technology and getting involved in projects. We host and maintain a range of services for students and societies at Bath, using our own infrastructure, as well as working on our own projects as a community.
What we do
We work together on projects as a community, where people can contribute whenever they want. We also run events and training sessions where you can learn new skills, work on projects, and meet other people interested in technology.
Why Join
BOSS is a good way to get some hands on experience with real projects and technology outside of your course. You don't need to know how to code. You can get involved with ideas, design, testing, reporting issues and feedback, or contribute directly to projects if you have some programming experience. It's also a chance to contribute to projects that are actively used by the wider university community.
Project & Services
Some of our main projects and services include:
- Froom - Find available unbookable rooms on campus if you need a room for brief meetings.
- Wiki - A student run knowledge base for sharing useful information, guides and resources about university life.
- VaultTub - A password manager for students, societies and student-led initiatives.
- Hackathons - We host websites and services for BCSS hackathons and game jams, as well as WIT (Women in Tech) hackathons.
