SU Community Officer - Tash

New Community Officer Reporting For Duty!

Hey everyone

Tash here, your new community officer reporting for duty!

What I’ve been up to!

So, it’s been about a month since we started in our roles and what a crazy time it has been: an infinite number of new people to meet, planning manifesto points, and adjusting to waking up at the crack of dawn (not to mention the alternate dimension that was handover the two weeks before).

On a real note, handover was an incredible experience to learn from the previous officers, SU staff, and in my case particularly from Izzy, about everything community at Bath. I’m so thankful to Izzy for passing down so much knowledge and advice in our lakeside chats.

I’m sure I yapped about my manifesto to a lot of you over campaign week (sorry for bothering you in a giant inflatable frog suit), so I’ll very briefly outline just some of the priorities I’m working on now:

  • Planning how we can manage a basic needs provision, sustainably, in the long-term
  • Exploring how we can make the nightlife safer for our LGBTQ+ community
  • Looking at how we can make students more aware of their sexual health and what sort of provision can be offered on campus and in the local area
  • And planning how we can best support students whose landlords aren’t playing nice

Graduations!

I also wanted to say massive congratulations to anyone who graduated this summer! It was an absolute honour to be able to speak at some of the graduations (and also graduate myself) last week. Even with heavy gowns in such hot weather, the vibes around Bath Abbey were impeccable all week long!

Just thought I’d say hi and keep y’all up to date, I have a whole load of schemes incoming, so keep your eye on the horizon for updates over the coming year!

Lots of love,

Tash x
