Graduation Update

First of all, a massive thank you to those of you who have been in touch and worked with us over the last week to make sure that your voice has been heard over the concerns of the cancellation of graduation.

A particular shout out must go to James Russ who put together this petition facilitating an avenue for members of our community to voice their concerns. This morning James and I met with the Vice Chancellor, the Director of Communication, and the Chief Operating Officer to discuss students views on the matter, the reasons why the decision was made and also what we want to see moving forward. James will be updating the petition in due course.

Alongside this, it is worth noting that thanks to your feedback the university have held several emergency meetings throughout the course of this week. Your voice and input has been invaluable! We’ve been discussing the immediate effect the cancellation has on students, alternative options such as virtual celebrations and also what future ceremonies could look like and when they could be. If you would like to provide feedback you can do so here.

Like many of you, we have also received a response back from Becky Reynolds (Director of Public Health for BANES) and Wera Hobhouse (Local MP). The Officer Team will be following these up in due course.

It is so important that your voice is heard at all levels and together our voice can be extremely powerful. I am extremely proud to be part of the student movement here at Bath, this week has just shown how incredible you all are. I will be providing a further update as soon as I can but for now please do keep emailing us with your suggestions on what you would like to see the University do to support you following the cancellation of Graduation.

For any other concerns you may have regarding quarantining for graduation or the cancellation of the event please do get in touch with graduation@bath.ac.uk.
