And just like that, two years, and 43 blog posts later, my time as president has come to an end.
I just want to spend my parting lines saying a few things...
First, I want to update you on handover briefly. The incoming officer team has been busy with loads of different sessions that we specifically designed to set them up for success in their year ahead. Some of the sessions have been: effective leadership, power and influence, a rundown of the demographics of our student body, advice and support and how to signpost people, the governance and finance structure of the SU, public speaking, and plenty of group and individual handover sessions so they can take over where we left off. Their brains have officially melted. Starting on Monday, they’ll be ready to smash it and I’m sure they’ll continue to make the SU at Bath the best one in the country – and soon, the world.
Second thing I wanted to do was give you a short update on all the things I’ve been up to as I get ready to leave Bath (and I mean on top of selling all my stuff and moving to London).
There’s been other bits and bobs, but I think these are the main ones.
Third and finally, I wanted to thank you all for the best two years of my life. They were challenging and very tough days, but this role made me grow infinitely as a person and as a professional. I will always treasure my memories working at the SU Bath. I will also, forever be grateful for the trust you all put in me when you elected me back in 2023, and for the vote of confidence in my work that you gave me when you re-elected me in 2024. Serving Bath students has been the biggest honour and privilege of my life. I can only hope to make you all proud in the future. I hope these posts were useful insight into the officer life and work.
With nothing else to say, I’ll leave it here – this time for good. Please do reach out through LinkedIn if I can ever be of any service to any of you. Have a lovely summer. Stay (forever) blue and gold and be kind to one another.
Much love always,
