Benji’s Bath Bus Breakdown

Hey everyone! Its everyone's favourite Bus enthusiast here to tell you about all the changes to the Bus routes this year. Last year I got elected on a platform that prioritised Buses as the number 1 issue facing students. After a year of meeting with stakeholders within the Uni and First Bus I am delighted to update on on all the changes to University buses in Bath this year, so here’s a quick rundown of what’s new, what’s gone, and what that means for you.

U3 – The new kid on the block
This is now the main link between Bath Spa and Uni of Bath. Think of it as a Frankenstein monster that combines both the U1 and U5

U4 – Southdown’s hottest new ride
The U4 is now a supped up new 22 that runs twice as regularly and now goes beyond Southdown, through Whiteway and Twerton, all the way to Bath Spa. Connecting the South of Bus up to campus

The Old Favourites (With some compromise)

U2 – Oldfield Park
As with all great changes, it does come with a cost. If you’re living around Brougham Hayes or Lower Oldfield Park, you might be annoyed to hear the U2 doesn’t stop there anymore. Instead, your nearest stop is now St James Cemetery

TL;DR

  • U3 = new big route, with double-deckers.

  • U4 = replaces 22, runs through Southdown → Whiteway → Twerton → Bath Spa.

  • U2 = no longer serving parts of Oldfield Park.

  • U1 = still the backbone, but timetable tweaks.

As with all change there will innevitably be issues that pop up, please email me at SUPresident@bath.ac.uk so I can continue working on these issues for you!
