Trans Day of Remembrance.

Across the globe, Transgender and Intersex people are disproportionately the victims of violence, rape, murder, suicide and honor killings.

Even in England, Transgender people have a higher mortality rate compared to Cisgender people.

The names that will be read during the service are only those that we know the story behind. The majority of victims will never be known, and their names are already forgotten.

What are we doing?

We will start by tying ribbons with the names of each victim on the fencing outside the chaplaincy, as a memorial to those siblings we have lost.
The chaplaincy will be there for quiet reflection until 6:15, at which point there will be a one hour service dedicated to those victims. The service will be largely non-religious, out of respect for the diverse beliefs of the victims whose names we shall read.

There will be a room in Chancellor's Building available for relaxation, and a member of LGBT+ committee there to help provide signposting for those that need it.

5:15 Ribbon tying outside of the chaplaincy.
6:15 Service starts inside chapel, there will be speeches followed by the traditional reading of names.
7:15 Service ends.
