Your chance to work the biggest event of the year - and secure a job for 2026–27

The Summer Ball is the biggest end-of-year celebration in Bath, and we’re looking for enthusiastic, reliable, high-energy people to help make it unforgettable. This shift will also act as a trial opportunity for those interested in joining our Plug & Tub student staff team for the 2026–27 academic year.

If you thrive in a buzzing atmosphere and love working with people, this is your moment to be right at the heart of the action. Whether you’re serving food, pouring drinks, or keeping the vibe electric, you’ll help deliver one of the most iconic nights in the SU calendar.

What you’ll be doing

• Serving food and drinks across our Summer Ball venues
• Keeping service areas stocked, clean, and running smoothly
• Creating a welcoming, energetic front-of-house atmosphere
• Working as part of a large, supportive events team
• Delivering friendly, efficient customer service
• Representing the SU with pride throughout the event

What we’re looking for

No bar or catering experience? No problem. We value:

• Great communication
• A positive, can-do attitude
• Confidence working with people
• Reliability and teamwork

If you bring the energy, we’ll teach you everything else.

What to expect

• A fast-paced, high-footfall environment
• Indoor and outdoor service points
• Being on your feet for extended periods
• A lively, high-energy atmosphere from start to finish

Important info

• Must be available Saturday 30 May
• Shifts range from 5–10 hours
• Pay: £12.60/hour + holiday pay = £14.12/hour
• Shifts may start as early as 09:00 and finish as late as 04:00
• There will be mandatory Plug & Tub venue training in early/mid-September for anyone wishing to continue working with us next year.

Future opportunities

If your training and Summer Ball shift are successful, you may be invited to join the Plug & Tub student staff team for the 2026–27 academic year, working at one of the SU’s busiest and most vibrant venues.
