On average 1-2 hours per week though hours for this role are offered on a casual basis and the amount available each week will vary. For some events, more hours will be needed.

The Sustainable Travel Champion will support the University’s efforts to encourage students and staff to walk, cycle, wheel, and use public transport for everyday journeys. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with people, promoting sustainable travel, and helping create a healthier campus community.
Key Responsibilities

Promote active travel options at events, pop-ups, and across campus

Provide friendly, practical guidance on walking and cycling routes, bike security, and local transport options

Assist with running campaigns, workshops, and activities that encourage sustainable travel

Gather feedback from students and staff to help improve active travel initiatives

Support the Sustainability team and Travel & Transport Working Group with administrative, research or on-the-ground tasks as needed

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

A confident communicator who enjoys talking to a wide range of people

Enthusiastic about sustainability, wellbeing, and active travel

Reliable, proactive, and comfortable working independently

Willing to work flexible hours depending on events and project needs
