The University of Bath Sustainability Team is looking for a motivated and organised student to support the delivery of the Green Impact programme. Green Impact is the University's sustainability engagement programme, empowering staff to take practical action to improve sustainability across departments and teams. The programme will be entering its third year at Bath; with over 400 staff members engaged with the programme. This role will run for throughout the 2026-2027 academic year, to help maintain and grow engagement with Green Impact by supporting communications, organising regular opportunities for participants to connect, and assisting with the day-to-day administration of the programme. The successful applicant will play an important role in helping existing teams stay engaged while encouraging wider participation and new recruitment across the University.

Key responsibilities 

The Green Impact Engagement Assistant will: 

  • Manage the Green Impact inbox and respond to routine enquiries. 
  • Support communications with Green Impact participants, including drafting emails, engagement posts for Teams channels and promotional content. 
  • Assist monthly Green Impact drop-in sessions, both online and in person where appropriate. 
  • Help maintain accurate records of participating teams and contacts. 
  • Support the promotion of Green Impact events, campaigns and deadlines. 
  • Encourage continued engagement from existing Green Impact teams through regular communications and follow-up.
  • Identify opportunities to improve participant experience and engagement.
  • Assist with collecting feedback from participants to inform future improvements. 
  • Provide administrative support for the Green Impact programme, including updating resources and documentation. 
  • Work closely with the Sustainability Engagement Officer to support wider sustainability engagement activities where appropriate. 

Person specification

Essential

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Strong organisational and time management skills. 
  • Passion for sustainability. 
  • Able to work independently and manage a flexible workload. 
  • Good attention to detail. 
  • Confident using Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook, Word and Excel) and Microsoft Teams. 
  • Friendly, approachable and confident communicating with a wide range of people. 
  • An interest in encouraging positive behaviour change. 

Desirable

  • Experience organising events or meetings. 
  • Experience creating communications or promotional materials. 
  • Knowledge of the University's sustainability initiatives or Green Impact. 
  • Experience using social media, Canva or other communication tools.
