Hourly Rate: £13.65

Hours

6–10 hours per week, Monday to Friday, subject to workload and agreed with the line manager. Working hours can be arranged flexibly around academic commitments.

Job Duration

Location: Office based on campus. There may also be scope for remote working during inter-semester breaks. Duration: Ongoing throughout the academic year, depending on availability and business needs.

Role Description

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Casual Administrative Assistant to support the Faculty of Humanities & Social Sciences Placements Team during the 2026–27 academic year.

This varied role will primarily involve researching and promoting placement opportunities on our vacancy management system (MyPlacement). Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Undertaking ad hoc administrative tasks and projects to support the HSS Placements Team.
  • Analysing data and maintaining accurate records using spreadsheets and database.
  • Assisting with digital content creation and managing our social media channels.
  • Supporting the HSS Placements Team at events, such as Open Days and Offer Holder Days, where required.

This is a great opportunity to gain experience in an office environment and develop your professional skills as part of a friendly, supportive team.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have some prior administrative or customer-facing experience
  • Be confident using digital systems and working independently with a high level of accuracy
  • Have a strong interest in communications and social media, particularly in crafting engaging and professional content (e.g., Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Be organised and proactive, with excellent time management and attention to detail
  • Communicate clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing
  • Be comfortable using databases and spreadsheets to manage information efficiently
  • Understand the importance of discretion, especially when working with personal data
  • Be reliable and willing to learn new systems and tasks
  • Previous experience working in a recruitment or HR environment would be an asset but not essential
