Are you passionate about your University of Bath experience and keen to make a positive impact on the lives of young people? As a Casual Outreach Ambassador, you will play a vital role in supporting prospective students as they explore higher education and consider their future educational pathways.

About the Role

Working with teams in Access, Recruitment and Outreach, you will contribute to a wide range of outreach activities delivered online, on campus, and in schools and colleges. You will act as a positive role model, sharing your experiences and helping students develop the confidence, knowledge and motivation needed to make informed decisions about higher education. Hours are variable and Outreach Ambassadors can sign up to work to fit around their timetable and availability. 

Rate of pay

Pay Structure CW2: Rates of pay for hourly paid workers

Currently, the rate of pay is £13.45 per hour (£15:07 including holiday pay).

Desirable Criteria

  • Experience working with young people

You will gain experience working with diverse groups of young people, representing the University, and delivering engaging activities and events. Participation can also contribute towards the Bath Award, helping you gain formal recognition for the skills, experience and personal development achieved through your ambassador role. 

Application and Selection Process

Applicants must complete the Outreach Ambassador application form and the associated video task. Please see below for instructions. 

You must also be available to attend ONE mandatory in-person (on campus) training sessions on the afternoon of 14 or 28 October. There will also be some additional training via MS Teams which must be completed before any shifts can be worked. 

Please note: Successful applicants will be required to complete a Right to work check: Conducting right to work checks (for UK students, this means showing us your passport). 

Selected candidates will also need to undergo an enhanced DBS check. In addition, if you have lived outside the UK for six months or more within the last five years, you will also need to provide criminal record checks from the relevant countries. Please be aware that this process can take some time to complete.

To complete the DBS check, you will need to provide three original forms of identification. We can only accept physical, original documents and cannot accept documents shown on a mobile phone or printed from online sources. The only exception is evidence of your immigration status via an eVisa/share code, which can be provided digitally.

APPLICATION DEADLINE: the application deadline is 18 October 2026, but applications will be assessed on a rolling basis so early application is encouraged. The paperwork can take quite some time (especially the DBS process). If you are selected, the sooner you complete all the paperwork and training, the sooner you can work!
