There is a vacancy for casual service point staff in the Library working across the Reader Services (Circulations, Memberships) and Copy & Print teams. Shift times and days are variable week to week based on your availability and service requirements. Applicants would be required to work for 2-4 hour long shifts during service point opening hours, 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday totalling around 2-12 hours per week.

The role has the following responsibilities:

  1. To issue, renew and return library stock items for borrowers and take payments for library charges via credit card transactions.
  2. To provide general assistance and direction to library users in their use of library services, for example self-issue machines, library catalogue, photocopiers/printers, online account management queries.
  3. To produce replacement library cards and issue pre-printed cards to staff and students using Library applications.
  4. Work with other team members to ensure the provision of a first-rate Copy and Print service to all users.
  5. Maintain an excellent working knowledge of the functionality of the copy and print equipment to advise and train customers to use it effectively. 
  6. To provide a high quality service with excellent customer care.
  7. To undertake additional administrative work and help maintain the student environment as required.

Full training in all required procedures will be provided to successful applicants.

Special conditions: The work can be physically demanding and requires lifting and moving of books and movement around the library building. Staff may be asked to work during examination periods.
