Details

The Skills Centre is recruiting four Student Co-Creators (SCCs) to join the Digital and Academic Skills Team and help develop and sustain the University of Bath's new GenAI & Digital Skills Hub.

The Hub is a student-focused resource supporting students to develop practical, critical and responsible GenAI and digital skills for academic study, the workplace and lifelong learning. It will bring together resources, examples, challenges, tools and student experiences.

The Hub is designed to be student-led and staff-facilitated. As an SCC, you will play a central role as a digital champion and help ensure the Hub reflects what students are actually doing, learning and asking about.

You will work with other SCCs and Skills Centre staff to develop content, explore emerging digital practices, test and improve the Hub, and connect with students across the University to find stories and examples that can be shared with the wider student community.

The four SCCs will come from different faculties or departments, helping the Hub represent a diverse range of student experiences and disciplines.

This is an opportunity to develop practical experience in digital design, GenAI, content creation, student engagement, research, communication and project working, while contributing to a new University-wide student resource.

The Role

The role will involve supporting the Hub both before and after its launch.

Hub development and content creation

Before launch, you will help develop and populate the Hub as a genuinely student-led resource. This may include:

  • Creating and curating student-facing resources and content.
  • Developing prompts, workflows, tool reviews, challenges and student examples.
  • Contributing to the design and structure of the Hub.
  • Testing content and functionality and suggesting improvements.
  • Creating digital content using appropriate tools and platforms.

Student engagement and communication

Following launch, you will help keep the Hub active, relevant and connected to the student community. This may include:

  • Identifying students with interesting digital and GenAI experiences to share.
  • Developing student stories and case studies.
  • Connecting with student communities within your faculty or department.
  • Creating engaging student-facing content and communications.
  • Encouraging students to contribute ideas, experiences and resources.

Research and student insight

You will help us understand how students are using digital technologies and generative AI and what support they need. This may include:

  • Exploring students' digital and GenAI practices, interests and challenges.
  • Identifying emerging tools, technologies and digital practices.
  • Gathering student stories, experiences and examples.
  • Finding useful resources and ideas to share through the Hub.
  • Engaging with students from different disciplines and backgrounds.

Critical and inclusive digital practice

Across your work, you will help ensure that Hub content is useful, accessible and responsibly developed. This includes considering:

  • The strengths and limitations of digital and GenAI tools.
  • Ethical and responsible use.
  • Accessibility and inclusion.
  • Different student needs and contexts.
  • Whether tools and resources are genuinely useful and relevant.

You will work collaboratively with the other SCCs and Skills Centre colleagues, contributing ideas, meeting agreed deadlines and sharing progress.

The role is hybrid, with approximately 60% on-campus and 40% remote working, with the pattern agreed with the line manager.

Person Specification

We welcome applications from students from all faculties, departments, disciplines and backgrounds.

Essential skills and attributes

  • Genuine interest in generative AI, digital technologies and emerging digital practices.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain ideas clearly and communicate with different audiences.
  • Ability to think critically about digital tools and their uses.
  • Good organisational and time-management skills.
  • Reliability and ability to meet agreed deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Enthusiasm for understanding and representing the student experience.
  • Willingness to learn and experiment with new technologies.

Desirable skills and experience

  • Experience creating digital content or resources.
  • Experience of student representation, peer support or community engagement.

We are particularly interested in building a team with complementary skills, so you do not need to meet every criterion.

Professional development

You will receive training, 1:1 support and group mentoring from the Digital and Academic Skills Team.

The role will provide opportunities to develop experience in digital content creation, GenAI, student engagement, research, communication, accessibility and project working, while building evidence of transferable skills for future opportunities.

How to apply

Please complete the online application form by 23:59 on 18 October 2026.

As part of your application, you will be asked about your interest in GenAI and digital technologies, the skills and experience you could bring to the Hub, and how you would engage with other students.

Interview process

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to a 30-minute interview, via MS Teams.

The interview will explore your interest in the Hub, digital skills, communication and collaboration, critical thinking and ideas for engaging students.

A short practical activity may also be included.
