ISB 2023

Trip was a success overall despite the less than stellar weather/conditions.

Next year location is likely to be Torridon again though Ollie has volunteered to book accommodation for us which would make for easier organisation on our end s would only need to book Ollie and transport.

Update:

Decision is 2 MPVs (i.e. trip size = 18) and both gites booked. Currently only have 3 drivers who are already MPV trained so need to find more.

Ferries not booked yet as SU demanding drivers are found first

TH to put posts to main FB group and BUMC Cars group looking for drivers

Drivers & Transport

Update:

List of names of potential drivers willing to do MiDAS to be trained to driver MPV.
Still eager to get more people MPV trained and as always top find those with personal cars.

There is possibility of MPV for Portland and Wild Camp – allow existing drivers to get more mileage. TBC though

AP to arrange training of people with SU Transport department

Reminder to make sure all events are on both the internal and the external calendars.

Evening Orienteering Sessions

Frequency of sessions dropping to once a fortnight as turnout is not consistently high enough to warrant weekly sessions. Moreover, with RS on placement/remote more direct workload for RR

BUCS is looking like £100 pp for tournament, currently only four people confirmed interest. Viability of running it is unclear.

RR to gauge numbers for orienteering and speak to SU

Learn To Belay/Wed Climbing/BUCS Trials

Update:
NS been in contact with The Arc re: learn to belay
Offered 90 min session with instructors for £8 plus entry fee

Frome taster next week. Encourage those driving to lift share as access by public transport is awkward.

NS to continue organising location for learn to belay/lead

TH to advertise Frome taster session

Note for future Hut price to increase by ~£150 as min stay will be two nights

Sport anchor cleaning session to be run prior to trip

To rope climb people must be able to belay. Question as how to verify this
