Council Tax Exemption for returning students

Make sure you don't get stuck with a costly bill for council tax.

If you are a full time registered student living within Bath & North East Somerset in a privately rented or owned home (i.e. not living in University accommodation) you will need to claim exemption from council tax or face a large bill for hundreds of pounds.

During the University's Registration OnLine (ROL) your details will be sent to the council, in order to activate your exemption you must then complete the council's online form https://secure.bathnes.gov.uk/changeofaddress/studentsmovingin.aspx Only 1 form per house please!!

Do this as soon as you move in or complete ROL with the University.   The Council are now sending out bills and letters to students who have not completed both aspects of this process.  Don't wait for the bill to arrive, register your student status now!

If you have any questions about council tax or exemption please contact AWARE aware@bath.ac.uk or 01225 38 6906.

7:41pm on 5 Oct 24 it's been broken longer than it's been working "https://beta.bathnes.gov.uk/apply-council-tax-student-exemption" This link should work as of October 2024, I believe it takes you to the current form.
