We’re on the lookout for a motivated, curious, and confident student to step into one of the most exciting leadership roles in The SU, SUmmit Chair.
SUmmit is where student voices come together to make real decisions. It’s a committee of student leaders and reps who debate ideas, vote on Standpoints (The SU’s official positions on key issues), and hold SU Officers to account. As Chair, you won’t just be part of the conversation, you’ll help shape it.
This role is a brilliant opportunity to build your confidence, boost your CV, and develop real-world skills in leadership, facilitation, and communication.
What you’ll be doing:
- Chairing lively discussions and meetings with confidence and fairness
- Helping ensure every voice in the room is heard
- Keeping meetings on track and running smoothly
- Working with agendas, minutes, and key documents
- Supporting students to turn ideas into meaningful SU Standpoints
What we’re looking for:
- Genuine enthusiasm for The SU and student life
- Confidence speaking in groups (or a willingness to grow into it!)
- Strong communication skills — both verbal and written
- Good organisation and attention to deadlines
- A calm, approachable style and the ability to handle tricky conversations fairl
