We are absolutely delighted to announce that The SU has been able to secure a larger space for a prayer room on Campus. The new prayer room will be located in Norwood Social Space and will be carried out in two phases, with the first phase will be delivered by the start of the 20/21 academic year. This will allow the space to exclusively be used as a prayer space, and will include the installation of female ablution facilities, new doors and a flexible divider to be installed. The second stage will include the installation of carpet and male ablution facilities and toilets. Until The second stage is complete the current prayer room will also be available for use to anyone who would like to use it.

This is a huge step in recognising the diversity at Bath and the growing Muslim community. The SU is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all students at Bath that both respects and celebrates all faith and cultures within the community.

Shahzeb, the chair of Bath Islamic Society (BUIS), said “this development will facilitate new and existing Muslim students in feeling at home and practicing their faith."

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the individuals whose hard work went into making this happen. BUIS have shown huge commitment over the past year, working closely with The SU and particularly Alisha Lobo, the previous Community Officer. Special thanks also go to Accommodation, Hospitality Services (AHS) for all their support.
