Christine has been recognised for her services to community sport and fitness.
We are absolutely thrilled to share that Christine Gibbons, one of our external Trustees, has been awarded an MBE in The King's Birthday Honours for services to community sport and fitness.
Christine is a pharmacy graduate of the University of Bath and had a distinguished career spanning hospital pharmacy, including serving as Chief Pharmacist at a London Teaching Hospital and senior hospital management as both a CEO and Director. She holds three Masters degrees and brings extensive experience from across the charity sector.
Christine joined the Bath SU Board of Trustees in 2024, having previously served on the University of Bath Council. She is also a Trustee of Active Sussex, the Geraint Thomas Cycling Trust, and Parkrun Global, a portfolio that reflects her deep and long-standing commitment to sport and physical activity as a force for good in communities.
Sport and physical activity are central to what we offer students at The SU, and they sit at the heart of what makes the University of Bath and its student community distinctive. Having a Trustee who so passionately understands and champions that value is something we genuinely treasure. Christine is a tireless advocate for the role sport plays in student life and wellbeing, and she champions The SU Bath at every opportunity.
Benji, SU President commented "We are so proud of this richly deserved recognition, and we look forward to continuing to benefit from Christine's wisdom, passion, and advocacy on our Board".
