We are thrilled to announce that The SU Bath has won Outstanding Fundraiser of the Year 2025 at the Radio Bath’s Charity Awards for our fantastic Race to Paris event!
The Race to Paris event, which saw 26 teams of Bath students take on the challenge of getting from Bath to Paris with no phones or money, was a testament to the incredible work and dedication of our student volunteers. They worked enthusiastically to support and raise money for our two top charities, Voices and Great Western Air Ambulance charity, managing to raise a whopping £20,500!
Students proved their resilience and passion as they competed to reach Paris first, through hitchhiking or fundraising for travel costs, whilst completing challenges and overcoming struggles and obstacles. Through the incredible kindness of strangers and pure determination, all 26 teams made it to Paris and said that they had had a great time. Many managed to complete additional challenges along the way including talking about the top two charities on a radio show, making a handshake with someone called Michael and getting an Instagram shoutout from another SU, all whilst in fancy dress. For the full report see our news story from last year, Students 'Race to Paris' for Rag's Top Two.
Anna Boneham, Volunteer and Society Manager at The SU University of Bath, said “Winning this award is a testament that the local community recognise the hard work put in by students when delivering events like these. We are always so appreciative of the many long hours put in by our fantastic student volunteers, so a massive thankyou goes out to all those involved in the Race to Paris and the amazing amount raised for those two charities!”
We are very grateful to the local community and Radio Bath for this recognition and support of our students and the brilliant fundraising they do. It is an honour to be acknowledged for the hard work and effort that goes into organising events like Race to Paris and will inspire future students to continue supporting local charities and having a positive impact.
