Volunteers Raise £150,000 last year!

During the Academic year 2025-26 students at Bath helped raise over £150,000 for a range of charities.

One of the many things we’re proud of as a Students’ Union is how dedicated the student body is to raising money for charity. The SU is about community, and there is no better way of showing that by giving up time to encourage others to give to a good cause.

During the Academic year 2025-26 students at Bath helped raise over £150,000 for a range of charities, which will make a huge difference to so many people’s lives.

Our fundraising Team Raise and Give (RAG) had Top Two charities last year, Voices and the Great Western Air Ambulance, who collectively received over £25,000 in donations through RAG’s dedicated efforts.

Voices thanked students by saying: “On behalf of everyone at Voices, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your incredible efforts in raising £12,500 to support our work with survivors of domestic abuse. Your commitment, energy, and compassion have made a tangible difference for the people we support, and we are truly grateful for your generosity.

“Domestic abuse has profound and lasting impacts on individuals and families. Your fundraising will directly support survivors in their recovery journey, allowing us to continue providing multi-disciplinary, long-term, and tailored early help and recovery services. We are proud to be the only recovery service for domestic abuse in Bath delivering bespoke support tailored to each individual’s unique situation and the pace they feel comfortable working at.”

Great Western Air Ambulance said: “From everyone at Great Western Air Ambulance Charity (GWAAC), we are so grateful to receive a generous donation of £12,500 from University of Bath's Student Union. From partaking in various fundraising activities, including the Race to Paris event, we are grateful to have had fantastic support from the SU, helping to raise vital funds for their local air ambulance.

“The SU donation contributes greatly to our vital ongoing missions but ensures that GWAAC can continue flying and driving forwards, helping to save local lives. Their support is more important than ever, following GWAAC's busiest year on record in 2024. The number of incidents our Critical Care Team are being called to are also rising. In the first six months of 2025, we have been called to help someone in critical need 1,181 times. On average, we are being called to more than six patients a day.”

As well as the Top Two students chose to fundraise for other charities, including Bath Challenge who climbed Mount Kilimanjaro in support of the Meningitis Research Foundation. Their ambitious fundraising target of £80,000 was split between the charity and the costs of the challenge - ensuring that half of every pound raised would go directly to supporting life-saving research, while the other half would enable students to complete a once-in-a-lifetime feat.

Student favourite Movember reached new heights with over £50,000 raised for men’s health charities. It saw enthusiastic participation from student groups across The SU, with Rugby contributing the most to fundraising.
