UBRFC is one of the University of Bath’s largest and most inclusive sports clubs, bringing together performance, competitive, development and recreational rugby across extensive men’s and women’s programmes.
Our community extends well beyond the pitch, giving students opportunities to play, coach, referee, volunteer, join the committee or get involved socially. Whether you are a complete beginner or an international-level player, there is a place for you at UBRFC.

What We Do and Why You Should Join
UBRFC provides a pathway for players of every ability. Four men’s teams compete in BUCS: the 1st XV in BUCS Super Rugby, the 2nd XV and 3rd XV in BUCS Premier South 1, and the 4th XV in BUCS Western Tier 2. The Women’s 1st XV competes in BUCS Premier South, while the Women’s 2nd XV participates in the RFU Inner Warrior Series, providing regular and accessible competition for new and developing players.
Beyond BUCS, the Men’s 5th XV plays frequent fixtures against Armed Forces teams and other opposition. Our RUSH-D programme offers a development and recreational pathway through an internal league comprising four faculty-based teams, alongside a regular Freshers’ Grand Prix series against other universities.
The programme continues into the summer through men’s sevens, while our strong connections with Oldfield Old Boys RFC and Bath Rugby Ladies provide further opportunities for students seeking more relaxed local club rugby.
Supported by outstanding coaching, world-class facilities and high-quality player development, UBRFC gives every member the opportunity to enjoy rugby and fulfil their potential. The season begins with Club Day during Freshers’ Week and continues with Wednesday fixtures, the annual Rec Game, Varsity and regular club socials.
Whether you want to compete at the highest level of university rugby, develop your game, try the sport for the first time or simply become part of an active and welcoming community, UBRFC is the club for you.
