What is LGBT+?

LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender and along with heterosexual they are terms used to describe people’s sexual orientation or gender identity. The + serves as an inclusive term, to represent all other sexual orientations and gender identities not specified by the letters. It acknowledges the vast diversity of the community and allows for the inclusion of all identities, recognising that language evolves and cannot capture every nuance all the time. If you would like to find out about more terms, visit the Stonewall website.
