What We Do
The Wine Society is one of the longest standing societies at the University of Bath, it has been running continuously for over 30 years, almost as long as there has been a University at Claverton Down. Some of those founding members still have links with the society today, and a handful of our members have gone on to pursue careers in the world of wine, we even have a Master of Wine amongst our alumni!
We hold weekly events on Tuesday evenings starting at 7:30pm, which usually last until around 10pm, usually followed by a trip to one of the many pubs in Bath. There are loads of reasons to come along, from wanting to know more about wine, meeting new people, to wanting to spice up your Tuesday evening.
We regularly have external speakers who come in to talk about the wine and we also aim to show you a variety of wines, from those expensive wines we all wish to drink to the more affordable bargains you can pick up in the shops yourselves! This year also, we aim to arrange more socials so that we can all visit the wine bars in Bath, so see, there are so many reasons to come.
We welcome members who might know something about wine, as well as those who don't know anything at all! One of the best ways to learn about wine is to be exposed to lots of different varieties and just taste them, you'll be surprised how much you pick up after a few weeks! We hope to see you all there!
Reasons to Join Us
If you like wine and want to know more about it, or even just know what you want to pick when a waiter gives you a wine list!
The member's price for each tasting is £2 less than non-member's price, so it only takes coming to 6 tastings to make your money back! Also, as a member of Wine Society you get 10% off wine purchased from Great Western Wine and discounted tickets for The Wine Gang Winter Festival in Bath. Plus, exclusive bonus tastings, meals and much more! Join up!
