What is TEDx?
 

TED began in 1984 as a conference focused on Technology, Entertainment and Design, built around the idea of sharing “ideas worth spreading.”

TEDx was later created to bring this concept to local communities, with the “X” meaning independently organised.

Today, TEDx events give people the opportunity to share powerful ideas, stories and perspectives with a live audience.

What We’re Doing This Year
 

In a world where AI is becoming increasingly capable, the skills that make us uniquely human matter more than ever.

This year, TEDxBathUniversity is bringing together a community of curious minds, creative thinkers and people with ideas worth sharing.

We’ll be hosting our TEDxBathUniversity Annual Conference, where inspiring speakers will take the stage to share their ideas, experiences and perspectives.

Interested in becoming a speaker? We’ll be running drop-in sessions to help you navigate the speaker application process, understand what makes a compelling application and learn more about the opportunity to share your ideas at our conference.

Beyond the stage, we’ll also be hosting community and social events to bring people together, spark conversations and connect students who are curious about ideas, creativity and the world around them.

Whether you’re interested in applying to speak, discovering new perspectives or simply meeting like-minded people, there’s a place for you in our community.

Get involved: Join our community and social events to meet like-minded students and connect with people who share your curiosity.

Speaker application support: Attend our drop-in sessions to ask questions and get guidance on the application process for becoming a speaker at our annual conference.

Stay connected: Find out more about upcoming events, opportunities and how to get involved with TEDxBathUniversity.

2. TEDx Speaker

Share your idea: Have an idea, story or perspective worth sharing? Speaker applications are now open to students who want to bring their ideas to the Annual Conference.

Application support: Join our drop-in sessions to learn more about the application process and ask questions before submitting your application.

Reach a wider audience: Take the opportunity to present your idea to a live audience, with the potential for your talk to be shared online, subject to TEDx guidelines.

3. Join the TEDxBathUniversity Team

Get behind the scenes: Help organise and deliver TEDxBathUniversity's events and annual conference.

Build real experience: Gain experience in areas such as event management, marketing, speaker development, production and more.

Be part of the journey: Work alongside the committee to bring the conference and its speakers to life.

4. Volunteer

Support our events: Help with event setup, running sessions and supporting the conference.

Get involved: A great way to experience TEDxBathUniversity from behind the scenes.

Build your CV: Develop practical teamwork, communication and event-management experience.
