Bath Active: Fun, free and fabulous

Did you know that there is a free and no commitment sport offering here at Bath? Yes you heard that right, I did say that it had no cost. male student playing badminton

Bath Active is The SU’s beginner friendly, cost free and low commitment sports programme open to all students here at Bath. You don’t have to be a part of a Sports Club to take part. They are open to both postgraduate and undergraduate students, anyone who is a student here in Bath can take part.

So why come to a Bath Active session? All the equipment is provided, all you need to do is show up in something you feel comfortable moving about it and a pair of trainers. It really is that simple. The Bath Active sessions are a fun and relaxed environment to get active and try something new. The sesstudents doing a cheerleading stunt in a bath active sessionsions are supervised and a great way to make new friends. What have you got to lose?

Some of my highlights on this years programme of over 15 sessions include trail running by mountaineering, sitting volleyball and cheerleading.

  • Trail running is a great way to keep fit and active for all abilities. Don’t worry about being slow pace, just expect to perhaps get a bit muddy. It is great way to explore some of the areas surrounding campus. The route changes each week so keep an eye on the Mountaineering Instagram to find out the different length routes for that week.
  • Sitting volleyball is an accessible sport offering run by the volleyball club here at Bath. It is open to everyone, even if you don’t know what you are doing. Drop in and give it a go.
  • Ever watched the Bath Jets perform and thought maybe I should have a go at that sometimes as it looks fun... well now here is that chance. They are hosting beginner friendly cheer sessions as a part of Bath Active every Sunday.

These are just a snapshot of the bath active program. There is so much going on each week. You can find out more information about the Bath Active scheme on the dedicated SU web pages.
