Annie Willingham Semester two has started and refreshers week this week has been fantastic. It has been great to see so many clubs and societies showcasing the communities they’ve built and hearing about lots of events you have planned this semester.
We sat down as an Officer Team at the end of January to set our priorities for the next 6 months, each officer will share these shortly. But one of the BIG key priorities we all shared was holding as many accessible, inclusive and brilliant events.
This is a bit of an evolving list but below are some of the opportunities and events that are happening in the SU t You can check the what’s on page regularly for more updated information.
Bubbles and Beer – Every Friday 9pm – 2am
Our new SU night that is held in the Plug and Tub with prosecco and cocktail trees, pitchers of beer and DJs. The first event is this Friday 11 February!!
6 Nations
The 6 Nations matches will be played on the screens in the Plug, there’s no need to book you can just come straight in!
SU Officer Elections
My job is up for grabs!! As my time as an SU Officer comes to an end in June there’s the opportunity to run for 6 SU Officer roles. Nominations are now open and you can nominate yourself here until the 21st February! You do not need to have your manifesto written for then (deadline for manifestos is the 2 March) as we have changed things around this year, introducing a variety of sessions to help you write your manifesto.

Share and Repair Café – Tuesday 15 February – 10am – noon at Dartmouth Avenue
There will be a share and repair café in Dartmouth Avenue. The event is free but donations to the local charity are welcomed.

Artsity 17 and 18 February in the Edge
Zoe (SU Activities Officer) is launching a new event that was a part of her manifesto!! Watching this come together has been so exciting and I can’t wait to see the different workshops that People & Planet, LitSoc, Engineers without Borders, Campus TV, BUSMS, Fine Art Society do. As well as Open Mic night on Thursday evening and the final performances on Friday.
Drag Bingo with Cynthia and Spank’s Saturday 26 February
We are bringing Drag Bingo to the Tub on Saturday 26 February, there will be lots of prizes, dancing and singing. You can buy tickets here on the 21 February! Check out the two acts on Instagram @Spankworldwide and @thecynthiaroad.
