Who Are We?
We are the Bath University First Aid Society (BUFAS). We hold weekly awareness sessions to help members learn new first aid skills and build on skills they've previously learned in other training.
In addition to the provision of first aid training, we also hold regular socials such as bowling and dinner, meaning you'll soon get to know all the members of our society and become part of the group!
Bath Student Volunteering
Our society has an integral partnership with the university's St John Ambulance unit: Bath Student Volunteering Unit (Bath SVU), a unit designed for students of the University of Bath. These volunteers receive comprehensive first aid training through a structured programme and will progress to become Operational First Aiders for the nation's leading first aid charity so that they can volunteer to provide first aid cover at a wide range of different events. We have close connections with the local Adult Unit and with other Student Volunteering Units across the region which means we're never short of support and we have opportunities to volunteer outside of the university.
What if I don't want to volunteer?
No problem! Joining the society doesn't mean you have to become a member of St John Ambulance. You are still welcome to come along to our weekly meetings and learn some first aid! You'll learn how to help someone suffering from things like chest pains, severe bleeding, choking and people who are unconscious! The sessions are also relaxed and friendly, perfect for meeting new people. With students from a wide range of subjects you’re guaranteed to meet someone who is like-minded to you.
First aid can save lives. Be the difference.
