Bath Politics Society
Bath University Politics Society is a non-partisan community open to students of all political views and all degrees.
Whether you're left, right, centre or simply curious about current affairs, we bring together students from across the university to engage with politics in an open, welcoming environment.
We focus on building a strong political community at Bath through speaker events, collaborative socials and large-scale flagship events throughout the year.
Political Socials & Community
At the heart of our society are our political socials.
We regularly organise:
- Politics-themed pub quizzes
- Pub crawls across Bath
- Joint socials with Bristol Politics Society
- Collaborative events with other Humanities societies
- Themed socials such as "Dress As Your Type" and Pub Golf
Our events are designed to bring together politically engaged students in a relaxed, social setting. Whether you enjoy discussing elections, policy or global events — or just like being around informed people — you'll find your place here.
Speaker Events
Alongside our socials, we host high-profile political speakers and Q&A sessions.
Previous speakers have included:
- Former Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg
- Former Minister Vince Cable
- Jacob Rees-Mogg MP
These events give students the opportunity to hear directly from figures who have shaped UK politics and ask questions on major political issues.
The Humanities Ball
The Humanities Ball is our flagship event and the highlight of the year.
Held at the iconic Roman Baths, the Ball is organised in partnership with SPS, Economics and Psychology societies and attracts significant interest across the university.
This formal event brings together students from across the humanities for an unforgettable evening in one of Bath’s most historic venues.
Tickets sell quickly each year and it remains one of the most anticipated society events on campus.
Open to All Degrees
You do not need to study politics to join.
If you follow the news, enjoy discussion and want to be part of a politically engaged community at Bath, this society is for you.
