Manifesto
My time at Bath has been incredible.
From Football to Fencing and Debating to Strictly Come Bath, I have had amazing experiences. And just like you, I’ve had my share of problems as well.
But the most exciting part has been leading our community; sitting on Sport Executive, leading a society to double its membership, and representing you on a national level as NUS Delegate!
And there is still so much more I want to do for us…
Campus is full.
-
Nowhere to study or eat? I will lobby the University to freeze all student numbers until it can prove there is sufficient space, accommodation and student support.
-
I will establish a system to ensure students can access unbooked rooms for studying and socialising.
-
And I’ll fight to ensure room hire costs for the Edge are abolished for student groups.
Making my way down town…
-
Let’s end the era of low quality housing! I will create a new accreditation system that enables students to secure adequate accommodation and steer clear of rogue landlords.
-
Another year, another problem with buses. I will fight for more services, which are on time and frequent all across Bath, especially the U10 and 20A/C, and increased services outside lecture hours.
-
We need better student discounts on gym memberships in town so students have more choice.
More bang for your buck
-
We already pay £9k a year, why should we pay more? I will challenge additional course costs from extra materials to printing.
-
Where does our money go? I will push for regular spending breakdowns so we can see exactly where our tuition fees go.
-
We’ve been promised a 3G pitch for years. I’ll make sure it’s built and students get first priority.
-
I’ll fight for better support finding and starting placements, returning to Bath, and more support for unpaid placements.
-
I will challenge food cost and quality on campus.
Even the Odds
-
International Students matter! I will work to improve housing support, provide dedicated careers programmes and better inductions.
-
I’m committed to Athena Swan – an initiative dedicated to widening access to prestigious employment for women – in every department.
-
Most postgraduate students teach. They deserve proper teaching contracts, including paid sick leave.
-
I will ensure official party political groups can form, no matter how large or small.
Landmark Events
-
We’ve got Varsity back, but it needs to be a highlight of the year.
-
We need a proper Re-Fresh Week and I want SCORE and KLASS tickets to be online, let’s stop the 5am queues.
-
And I will launch the first ever Student Leaders Conference to engage and inspire students.
I have had the best time at Bath, and it would be the greatest honour to be YOUR SU PRESIDENT, putting inclusivity at the heart of our Union.
