Development Squad
In 2022, we introduced our first non-BUCS team, known as the third team. This team consists of approximately 15 students and competes in friendly home and away matches against other universities, coordinated by the Development Secretary.
The typical handicap range is 3-8, though this varies each year based on the overall standard.

Selection Process
To be considered for the squad, you must participate in the BUCS squad trials held in October. If you are not selected for the BUCS squad, you will have the opportunity to join the third team.
Coaching
The development squad will have the same lessons option as the BUCS teams for £25, offering at least 4 sessions. Sessions are led by BUCS coach Russell Covey (see BUCS for more details).
Development League
In 26/27 our 3's team will be competing in the south west development league. This will be played against Cardiff, Exeter, Oxford Brookes, Hartpury, UWE, Reading and Bristol.
