Intra-Club Awards 2019

Fresher of the Year

This award is not defined by the first year of University, but the first year of club attendance, and is given to the individual who most embraces everything that Bath University Kickboxing has to offer. Whether it be training and competing or socialising and making themselves known. Throughout the 2018-2019 year, Jack McLean has found himself at the centre of every club event and has shared his enthusiasm and support for the club every step of the way. It is without a doubt that Jack McLean was Kickboxing Fresher of the Year.

Most Improved

The University of Bath Kickboxing offers over 10 hours of training a week and a range of competitions, tournaments and gradings to those willing to take the opportunities. With this in mind, improvement is often expected of our members. However, the award for Most Improved member is given to that individual who improves both themselves and the club without ego and without defeat of conviction throughout the year. John Andemeskel has embodied this by ceasing opportunities and proving himself at P.U.M.A events and our very own Fight Night, earning him the award of Most Improved Fighter.

Female Fighter of the Year

The Best Female Fighter award is given to the individual who most impresses across all aspects of the club, whether that be in gradings, competitions, or simply their dedication to the club. Ruta Prieskienyté has embodied the etiquette of Bath University Kickboxing this year at every opportunity. Having won silver at P.U.M.A. International 2019 and gold at P.U.M.A. Team and Individual point stop events 2019, her development from complete novice to experienced and well-ranked fighter is not only impressive but profound.

Male Fighter of the Year

This award is given to the Male Fighter who we believe has accomplished most across the year, whether that be personally in their training or in their accomplishments at tournaments and competition. Not only did Tim Oluwole reach the semi-finals at the University kickboxing Championships in Leeds, and win gold in the P.U.M.A. International 2019, but the respect and commitment that he has maintained for the club even whilst being on placement has impressed everyone who has had the pleasure of training with him.

Heart and Soul

The Hear and Soul award is designed to capture the essence of Bath University Kickboxing; a club which is run by volunteers and dependent on the effort put in by those who are passionate. This award is for those who are enthusiastic, selfless and disciplined, but most of all for those who cease every opportunity with open arms and a modest attitude. Jordan Seedal has proven himself time and time again in spirit and determination and embodies everything which Bath University Kickboxing has had, and has hoped, to offer during the year of 2018-2019.

Outstanding Contribution from a Graduating Member

Created to honour those individuals who have given everything they have to Bath University Kickboxing throughout not only the present year but throughout their time at the club, this is our version of a life time achievement award. During his time in the club, Alex Upcott Gill has dedicated himself, initially to training, and then to as many committee roles as could claim. He has competed in Fight Night and the University Kickboxing Championships and oversaw an almighty year of Kickboxing socials during his year as social secretary. Whilst he will be sorely missed after his graduation, this award is well-deserved for all Alex has given the club.
