International students at Bath are represented at every level of the SU, and from 2026 to 2027 that representation gets stronger than ever.
Postgraduate & International Officer
This is a brand new full time elected officer role, and the first of its kind at Bath SU. The Officer represents postgraduate and international students directly, working alongside the SU and the University to make sure your voice is heard on the issues that affect you, from arrival and visas through to supervision, funding, and life after graduation.
Our first ever Postgraduate & International Officer is Mercy Martins, a final year PhD student in Education and an international student herself. Her priorities are stronger postgraduate and international representation, better support at key moments like arrival, visas, funding and progression, building community and belonging, and working closely with the University to deliver real change.
International Community Organiser
Working alongside the Officer is the International Community Organiser, a dedicated role focused on turning your experiences into action. The Organiser brings international students together through roundtables, forums and workshops, gathers evidence on the issues that matter to you, and works with our
elected student leaders to campaign for change both within the University and beyond. In practice that means listening to international students, building an evidence based case for what needs to improve, and championing those issues in University committees, consultations and wider forums, while also helping students develop their own advocacy and leadership skills.
Backed by the whole SU and the University
These two roles lead on international representation, but they do not work alone. Everyone at Bath SU advocates for international students as part of their work, and representation is supported widely across the University too, through professional services and staff who champion international students every day. Whatever stage of your journey you are at, there are people across both the SU and the University working to make sure your voice is heard and acted upon.
