Workshops
Our Workshops give you the chance to learn from professional musicians and experienced student players, with sessions covering both general musical concepts and instrument-specific skills.
Each workshop is built around a central theme chosen by the workshop leader. The leader starts by explaining the aim of the session and the thinking behind it, then introduces a concept or technique with examples of how and why it works. Participants get to grips with it through short exercises, either as a group or on their own, before applying it in a musical context such as playing or soloing over a piece or groove chosen by the leader. This may be repeated with further ideas across the session, and discussion is encouraged throughout. Every workshop finishes with a Q&A, where you can ask about the specific material covered or the wider theme.
Each workshop is aimed at a different group of players. Across the year, we're building a programme with something for every member, whatever your instrument or level. Who each workshop is for will be made clear when it's announced. Bring your own instrument. Drums, piano/keyboard, guitar and bass amps, microphones and music stands are all provided.
