What We Do

Welcome to DanceSoc, the University of Bath's Dance Society!

We are a large, diverse society offering participation in a wide range of styles of dance including: Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Lyrical, Heels, Tap, Commercial and Hip-Hop. 

Whether you're a beginner, intermediate, or advanced dancer, DanceSoc offers a fun, dynamic, and social experience to make the most of your time at university!

Examples of DanceSoc activities which YOU can take part in: 

• Weekly classes for a range of abilities, in a variety of styles.
• Two annual shows (November and March) in which anyone can participate or choreograph.
• Competition teams for both intermediate and advanced categories.
• Attendance at 3 national competitions each year!
• Regular socials for all members- guaranteed to be super fun courtesy of our amazing Social Sec!

DanceSoc is a brilliant, inclusive society, where students can enjoy dancing with friends whilst improving choreography and technical skills.

Reasons to Join Us

• Maintain or develop a passion for dance and spend time with people who love dance as much as you do!
• Make new friends across different subjects and years and take part in multiple fun socials!
• Develop your dance skills or take classes just to enjoy a break from university work.
• A chance to compete in inter-university dance competitions all throughout England!
• Our two annual dance shows! (in which YOU can choose to choreograph and dance in!)

Classes

Classes are held every week in the Edge Dance Studio (3rd floor), or sometimes in the Weston Studio (Ground floor).

We have 4 classes a week which vary week to weeek. They are run by Dancesoc students and are a great way to make new friends and are super fun! Classes this year are completely free all year as long as you have bought the Dancesoc membership (only £12)!

Up-to-date timetables for classes will be posted on the Instagram- so don't forget to keep up-to-date, or turn on post notifications so you don't miss out!! 

Please note that separate classes run by the SU on Monday in the dance studio are NOT part of dancesoc and are paid classes.

All of Dancesoc's Monday classes are held in Weston Theatre on the ground floor of the Edge. All of Dancesoc's Thursday classes are held in the Dance Studio on the 3rd floor of the Edge.

Show Dates

Our showcases will be held at the Edge Theatre on campus!
In addition to performances by our competition teams, showcases will also feature small group dances and solos choreographed by our talented DanceSoc members.

- Sizes are unisex.

- You will need to add products to basket first (scroll down) and then choose sizes after proceeding to checkout!
