KEEPING SAFE & LOOKING AFTER THE CLUB
Our Welfare and Inclusivity officer Hannah Maltby is here to ensure our netball family return (physically or virtually), prioritising health and wellbeing. A message:
"Hi All! I am very excited after England Netball's announcement that we can now step back on courts and enjoy the significant physical and mental benefits this sport brings to so many. In the first semester, everyone with an all-sport membership is very welcome and encouraged to join our taster, social sessions.
To keep us safe during the current climate, we will be following and adhering to England Netball's guidelines and therefore we will be returning through a modified version of the game. Although there is a significant risk at the moment, every step of the way, you will have a supportive community around you to ensure your wellbeing is placed front and centre. However, it is important that everyone takes personal responsibility for their actions and the impact on both their own health and any other people they may come into contact with, particularly those with underlying health conditions.
As welfare officer, I will endeavour to support you with any concerns. Please feel free to contact me on any matter in this regard."
In regards to this, we want to ensure our club is accessible to ALL and will be providing a virtual offer via Microsoft Teams and our social media pages for those who are shielding or away from Bath.
The Club offers the chance for members to trial for one of the 5 BUCS teams at both the beginning of the year and for team revisions throughout. All BUCS teams compete in BUCS leagues and cups with fixtures against other universities every Wednesday afternoon. Each BUCS team has a dedicated coach to ensure player development helping the club to continue building on its BUCS success.
This year, BUCS fixtures will start in January. However, make sure you're at trials and training throughout the whole of semester 1- think of it as your preseason!
The University Development league consists of 6 netball teams each with their own dedicated coach. Trials for development teams are at the beginning of the year and throughout. The 6 teams play in a competitive legaue of their own with fixtures on Wednesday afternoons.
Social Netball is a recreational form of netball within the University. Teams are formed from players that may be trying out netball for the first time, turning up to socialise, get fit and everything inbetween; so this is a great way to meet loads of new people! There are lots of opportunities to play as much netball as you want and sessions will run weekly throughout the whole of semester 1 for beginners!
... Here's a glimpse of all of the action you can be a part of!
TRIALS AND TASTERS 2020
Following Government guidelines, trials will take place once netball has been assured as safe to play. Until then, we will follow the 'Return to Play' protocol published by England Netball.
BUCS trials will likely take place in November.
Trials for Development teams will likely take place after BUCS trials.
We are excited to get back on court but must do so in a safe manner, utilising the time pre-trials as a unique preseason opportunity!
FOLLOW OUR SOCIALS FOR MORE INFORMATION ON OUR TASTER SESSIONS DURING FRESHERS WEEK AND TEAM TRIALS (BUCS AND DEVELOPMENT) IN SEMESTER 1!
Stay safe and well and we hope to see you as a part of UOBNC soon x
