Beginners Course
If you would like to join the Club, please first purchase the memberships and the Beginners Course, then sign up to each stage of the Beginners Course as they are released.
How it works:
- Who needs it: Anyone who hasn’t completed a certified beginners course elsewhere
- Structure: 4 weekly sessions (1 per week) at the start of the semester, covering technique, equipment, and bow styles. If you miss a session, you can attend a catch-up the following week. Missing more than one may mean deferring course completion to the next semester.
- Sign-ups: Open Fridays at 12 noon via the Sign-Ups Page for the following weeks sessions - note that session capacity is limited
- Location: STV Sprint Track (indoor)
- Required to be able to join the Club if you are new to archery
Please make sure to tie back long hair, wear closed shoes, avoid baggy clothes and if possible remove upper body piercings or you may be turned away.
Archery is proud to be an inclusive sport. If you have any requirements please do get in touch in advance (su-archery@bath.ac.uk) so we can work out how to support you best.
Why should I join the Beginners Course?
- Completing the Beginners Course will allow you to join our sessions as you wish.
- You will learn a lot more about archery, different bows, and how to hit that elusive middle of the target.
- You will get to compete at regional and national student competitions if you are interested, including BUCS.
- Having completed a beginners course and being affiliated to the national governing body will allow you to join many other archery clubs across the country.
