Action points for next meeting  

  • JN to check if the SU has any MPV training/qualification session running soon 

  • AM To see if there is a way to further subsidize the BUCS climbing comp in the future as this is a very expensive trip. 

  • AM and BB to finalize a rainy day plan at some climbing gyms which are nearby.  

  • HW and HD to organize times for last possible check-ins to the checkpoint  

  • HW and HD to move the event start-time earlier (7-9pm) 

  • HW to put something on the groupchats to call for more drivers 

  • JN to sort another driver for Dartmoor as an MPV driver has dropped out 

  • JN to email the SU that he is almost finished with the event planner  

  • AM to finish the forms to get the credit cards to complete the ferry booking.  

  • AM and BB to finalize drivers/ car insurance 

  • AG to finalize location within Pembroke and start calling campsites  

  • JI to sort a meeting with Surf soc in a few weeks to try to organize another social.  

  • JN to find a person to teach First Aid in freshers week next year  

  • JI to create an Alumni chat 

  • AG to start trialling putting the weekly climbing poll on WhatsApp to see if people respond  

  • EW to add these organizations to the link tree on Instagram to point these out to the club 

 

Learn to lead/ Learn to belay  

  • Last session had to be cancelled due to not enough spaces being filled  

 

SWUCCS 

  • Went well with multiple people making it to the finals  

 

MPV Drivers  

  • JN – to check if the SU has any MPV training/qualification session running soon  

  • The best way to register interest for this is to fill out the insurance form on the SU website so Beth and Anissa have encouraged people to do this.  

 

BUCS 

  • AM – To check with SU if there is a way to further subsidize the BUCS climbing comp in the future as this is a very expensive trip. 

 

Portland  

  • Happening this weekend (March 16th-17th) 

  • AM and BB to finalize a rainy day plan at some climbing gyms which are nearby.  

  • AM and BB to organize bringing black bin bags put in any muddy kit  

 

Starlight Scavenger Hunt 

  • Sign-ups are looking good so far (45 – we may get up to 53!) 

  • HW and HD to organize times for last possible check-ins to the checkpoint  

  • HW and HD to move the event start-time earlier (7-9pm) 

  • HW to put something on the groupchats to call for more drivers 

  • We had some discussions about snacks and breakfast to sort some reasonable options  

 

Dartmoor 

  • JN to sort another driver for Dartmoor as an MPV driver has dropped out 

  • JN has sorted a new route  

  • JN to email the SU that he is almost finished with the event planner  

 

Font  

  • AM to finish the forms to get the credit cards to complete the ferry booking.  

  • AM and BB to finalize drivers/ car insurance 

 

Summer Trip  

  • AG to finalize location within Pembroke and start calling campsites  

 

Hustings  

  • There was a very good turnout with many positions contested – great improvement from last year! 

 

Surfsoc  

  • Some people reported some dismissive behaviour from some members of Surf  

  • JI to sort a meeting with Surf soc in a few weeks to try to organize another social.  

  • This may be a Monday Frome bouldering or a walk, it would be nice for Surfsoc to also organize an event which we can attend  

 

Club Stash  

  • This has arrived and been delivered to most people 

 

T-shirt Comp  

  • This will start to be organized soon – need to make anonymous polls on WhatsApp 

 

First Aid  

  • This probably won’t happen for this years committee 

  • JN to find a person to teach First Aid in freshers week next year  

 

WhatsApp 

  • JI to create an Alumni chat 

  • AG to start trialling putting the weekly climbing poll on WhatsApp to see if people respond  

 

Queer Climbers Bristol and Colour Up  

  • EW to add these organizations to the link tree on Instagram to point these out to the club 

  • It would be good to ask out members if they are happy to forward us any photos that they are happy to share from these events
