What Does a Judge Do?
Judges are needed to run the university competitions. They are responsible for determining each gymnast's score
There are 4 different types of judges:
- Execution judge - determines 'how nice' a routine is
- Horizontal Displacement judge - determines how much a gymnast moves from the centre of the trampoline
- Difficulty judge - determines which moves have been perfomed and how hard they were
- Chair of judges - Lead judge, in charge of any final decisions and penalties and making sure the judges are being fair.
On the judging course you will learn how to do execution and horizontal displacement judging.
How Do I Become a Judge?
Judging courses are usually available near the start of each academic year, but may be available throughout the year too. When a course becomes available, committee will communicate this on the club Whatsapp group.

Other ways to help out
Want to help out a competitions but don't want to judge? There are plenty of other ways you can make a difference that are just as important.
- Recorder - record the scores the judges give out either written on paper or into a computer
- Video recorder - Start/stop the camera that is recording routines and save them with the appropriate name.
- Time of Flight recorder - ensure the machine starts at the right time by clicking a button when appropriate
- Marshall - In charge of gathering attendance from a group competing, communicating with the chair of judges and ensuring they know when to get on the trampoline to compete.
- Within the club - we need people to spot for those competing, video them, and just support them to make sure they're not alone.
