My Manifesto

Take a look at my orginal manifesto that was written when running for Community Officer.

Manifesto

My Pledges and Updates

  • Lobby for better accessibility to neurodivergent students by expanding quiet and sensory areas and improving Hospitality facilities and The Sensory Room.
  • Improve the signage of the quiet areas, ensuring that they are made clear and encourage others to respect them.

UPDATE: Both these manifesto points have fed into the development of a larger project - my Top 10 point. See all information and updates for this here: 3. Accessibility for Neurodiverse students.

  • Advocate for Drink and night safety measures through Anti-spiking Lids and further Staff training at the SU bar and Local Nightclubs.

UPDATE: Posters and digital artwork at the SU bar advertising our Anti-Spiking products have been introduced to increase awareness of the availability.

  • Increase the availability of on campus sustainable Free Period Products for students and staff.

UPDATE: Issues with funding meant that the original idea for this was not yet possible in 2025/26. I am currently looking at other ways we can support access to affordable and sustainable menstrual products.

  • Promote and facilitate the Creation New societies that offer lesser-known interests to ensure the connection of like-minded students.

UPDATE: Over the summer, 2 affiliation windows for students to create new societies were introduced as well as no caps on number of societies. Therefore, there are more opportunities for students to create societies that focus on lesser-known and unique interests.

  • Advocate for better affordability and quality of Housing by creating a Housing Campaign and collaborating with Local Council.
  • Offer housing workshops to provide students with information on how to navigate the rental market effectively and their rights as tenants.

UPDATE: Both of these manifesto points have developed into creating the SU Housing Campaign built around three core pillars:

  1. Advocating for Affordable Housing
  2. Advocating for Better Quality of Housing
  3. Informing and Empowering Students

Find more information and developments here: Housing.

  • Ensure the university upholds it’s Duty of Care through providing expanded options for alternative wellbeing approaches to reduce waiting times and empower students to optimize their mental health.
  • Expand the options of Wellbeing Activities, such as art classes and Dog walking, to provide opportunities to learn new hobbies and skills while enhancing mental wellbeing.
  • Extend Free Wellbeing Activities to off campus locations, such as Oldfield Park and City Centre to provide more opportunities for students who live off campus.
  • Improve training to committee members to help deliver consent and active bystander training in line with the NeverOk Campaign.
  • Enhance free wellbeing activities for international students during the holidays to foster connection and reduce loneliness.

UPDATE: these manifesto points have fed into the development of my Top 10 point all around Alternative Mental Health Approaches, including focus on international students. Find out more details and updates here: 9. Mental Health Approaches.

  • Advocate for a Wider Variety of Food and Drink options on campus, that represent the cultural diversity of the student body.

UPDATES:

  1. No Plates Like Home made in Collaboration with Faith and Cultural SU Groups and Campus Services to introduce a pop-up menu at Lime Tree based on student’s home dishes
  2. The SU President and I introduced £1 Porridge at SU Bar for a more affordable breakfast item).
  • Enhance social mixers for international students to promote integration.

UPDATE: Also related to the Top 10 point on Mental Health approaches. Other developments related to supporting International Students includes:

  1. Aspects of the Housing Campaign focuses on Housing issues that directly affect international students. We are lobbying the University to introduce monthly or flexible payment options for University-owned accommodation and a private guarantor system which will help positively impact international students.
  2. The SU and University have collaborated to create a Part time jobs presentation for international and exchange students, introducing them to information and support on how to find a part time job as well as the jobs The SU and University offer. This will be piloted in Semester 2 to assess the longevity of this initiative.
  • Collaborate with local businesses to Increase the Availability of Student Discounts on products and services.

UPDATE: Liaised with SU Sales in contacting local businesses to approach them about their student offers/creating student offers to attain more student discounts in town and strengthen our relationship with the town's local businesses.

  • Enhance the Advertisement and Increasing Munch Box availability to improve food waste sustainability and provide more affordable dining options.

UPDATE: Plan to start developing this in Semester 2.
