My Priorities

Completed Items:

Maintain the affordability of society and group memberships.
- The Societies Area Membership remains at £3!
Change funding criteria for Volunteering and Fundraising groups to reduce the financial barrier towards running student projects.
- Volunteering and Fundraising groups are now able to apply to the Societies Membership Fund!

Student Group Operations and Admin

Centralise all SU resources related to running student groups, reducing confusion about administrative processes and allowing committees to focus on running their activities.
Review the new event planner system and apply student feedback to further streamline the process.
Work with the Arts team to further refine the theatre bidding process, encouraging applications from all student groups.
Heighten the visibility of societies and volunteering opportunities through year round promotion, focussing on international and postgraduate student involvement.

Student Group Activities

Facilitate the involvement of all groups in volunteering activities through connection with relevant organisations or student groups.
Collaborate with Faith and Cultural groups to produce events showcasing their communities, enabling both home and international students to find a sense of belonging.
Push for more equal allocation of studio, recital and other rehearsal spaces, particularly around performance and competition periods.
Launch of the Visual Arts showcase in semester 1 and build on it for semester 2 using student feedback to improve the showcase for future years.

Space

Develop off-campus spaces, such as Scala, for use by student groups through the installation of infrastructure such as kitchen appliances and mirrors.
Continue progress in securing the Edge as an SU only building.

Careers and Employability

Launch new careers events tailored towards non-STEM students, featuring employers with focusses on humanities, volunteering and other alternative career paths.
Expand and improve the Bath Award using knowledge gained from its pilot year alongside student feedback, recognizing the importance of extra-curricular development as well as more established routes such as the SU's skills training workshops.
Strengthen the presence of sustainable and environmentally aware employers in careers fairs.

Community

Highlight commemorative days as opportunities to celebrate, and educate ourselves about, the diverse cultures and communities present within our student body.
Spread awareness of the university's and SU's wellbeing services and how to access them, through more consistent communication and an emphasis on the role lecture courses can play in increasing their visibility.
Uphold the SU's Housing Campaign, increasing awareness of student's rights and pushing for better affordability and accessibility across all housing sectors.
Ensure financial support structures such as scholarships, bursaries and grants remain accessible whilst simultaneously increasing their visibility.

Sustainability

Work with staff and students to ensure continued progress towards the goals outlined in the university's Sustainability Strategy and the SU's Sustainability Action Plan.
Empower student voices through the SUstainability Student Forum allowing students to hold the SU and university accountable and have direct input into decisions surrounding sustainability.
