There are plenty of wider opportunities to join in the arts. Find out how you can apply for an Arts Scholarship, join our student staff team, or even learn about wider opportunities around Bath.

Casual Staff Roles

Front of House Team

We have a paid student-led Front of House team to manage shows and events at the Edge, made up of ushers and duty managers. Being part of our FOH team is an exciting opportunity to facilitate student performances and support SU and University events. We run full training for both these roles, which allow you to learn transferable skills in a creative environment.

Duty Managers - Duty Managers lead the team for each event and oversee the smooth running of events. This includes getting the space ready, coordinating ushers, liaising with the event producers and technicians, and being the port of call for resolving problems and answering questions on the event. We look for individuals who are friendly, engaged, organised, and adaptable.

Ushers - Ushers help out at events with tasks like setup and tidy, ticket taking, and directing audiences. They need to be able to present a friendly face to audiences and cast alike.

Keep an eye out to hear when we recruit our team for the start of the 2022/23 academic year.

Theatre Technician Team

Our technical team is made up of casual staff and provides key support to the various events in the Edge including theatre shows, small arts and music events, film screenings, talks, and other venue support. They help to set up and run lighting, sound, set and other AV elements and work closely with the event organisers to help create a great event which runs smoothly.

Every event is different, so we look for individuals who are friendly, engaged, adaptable and good at problem-solving. While technical experience is preferable, we do provide full training for the role.

Arts Scholarships

Interested in being an Arts Scholar? The SU and University have a joint Arts Scholarship programme which supports students keen to develop their arts interest alongside their studies.

The Arts Scholarship programme supports students who are keen to develop their individual arts interests alongside their studies. Successful applicants to the programme will receive £1000 a year and be part of the scholar network, collaborating with like-minded peers and performing at various community and University events.
