Although the Chair’s role may differ slightly from position to position, the Chair of a Society or Club’s responsibilities tend to include the overseeing of all activities, maintaining an up-to-date strategy and ensuring that all members are engaged with and properly represented. As well as this, Chairs are responsible for ensuring health and safety standards are adhered to in all activities; for acting as a signatory on the Society accounts up to set limits and; are jointly responsible with the Society Treasurer for ensuring the Society remains within budget.

Chairs benefit from an array of training, including handover training and Committee training. They also receive ongoing support from SU Activities Office and team building sessions.
